This Weekend We Ride for Alex Pretti
Hello friends,
Things in the world are heavy right now. Big things are happening, and I won't pretend like we all see them in the same light. What I can say honestly is this, the loss of humanity, and life grieves me deeply.
This past week, Alex Pretti was shot and killed by federal agents. This year alone, federal agents have killed eight people. Alex was one of those killed. He was a cyclist. He loved mountain biking. He was part of our community.
He cared about the people he worked with, the folks he rode with, and the neighborhoods he moved through. He was a regular at a bike shop that is now helping organize memorial rides, not just in Minneapolis, but in cities across the country this Saturday.

Here in Boise, the Boise Bicycle Project is hosting a memorial ride, and I want to encourage you to come out and be part of it. Click here for ride details
Those of you who have ridden with me and spent time talking about life, beliefs, and everything in between on the trail know where I stand. I’ve tried to keep this site a resource for everyone, and I still believe in that. But watching what is happening in this country right now, I can’t continue to promote riding and community while members of our community are being killed.
I believe this country is held together more by love of neighbor and care for one another than by fear, hatred, or xenophobia. I want to echo the words shared by the Boise Bicycle Project for this event:
“While we deeply feel this loss and the continued effect of enforcement actions on members in our Boise community, we are inspired and galvanized by all good faith actors across our country, from Minneapolis to here in Boise, who fearlessly show up to advocate for a community and a nation where all are safe, welcome, and supported.”
So please come ride with us this Saturday.
This ride is about being present, about coming together as a community and moving through the community we all share and love with kindness and love for each other.
Forever two wheels,
Myles
