Route Card: Eastside
For the off season this year, I’m sharing a series of Route Cards pulled straight from my Strava history. These are routes I’ve ridden over the years, everything from quick after work loops to big days during the Trail Challenge, plus a few shuttle laps mixed in. The goal isn’t to over explain or turn these into full ride guides. It’s to give you simple, proven route ideas you can bookmark now and come back to when 2026 rolls around. Think of these as quick reference cards for exploring new areas, linking trails more confidently, and getting out of your normal riding routine.

Route Snapshot
Eastside Trail is one of those rides that feels like a rite of passage for Boise riders. It’s a longer loop and definitely a commitment, kind of like Around the Mountain, but the vibe is totally different than the Boise foothills. The pine trees make it feel quieter and more remote than most Boise Foothills rides, and honestly that’s what keeps me coming back.
For this loop, I like to park at Freddy's Stack Rock Parking Lot and ride up Bogus Basin Road to Eastside trial. From there, you’ll descend Eastside Trail and cruise along the ridge. I like to stay on Eastside all the way back toward Freddy’s Stack Rock Trail. Sinker Creek is a fun option, but it drops you down and the climb out is long and sustained. For this route, we’re keeping it simple, staying on Eastside, then climbing back up Freddy’s Stack Rock to finish where we started.
Note: There’s been logging activity in the Eastside area in 2025. I haven’t personally seen what the trail looks like yet. Eastside is an old logging road that riders have made their own over the years, but with logging back in the area, some sections could be rough or changed. I’ll update this once I’m able to get up there in the spring.
Simple Route Directions
- Start at Stack Rock Parking lot
- Ride Bogus Basin road up to Eastside trailhead
- Drop in on Eastside and ride over to Stack Rock Connector
- Climb out Feddy's Stack Rock Trail
- Cross over Bogus Basin Road
- Return to parking lot
To make things even easier, I have created a public Google Maps guide with pins for every major Boise trailhead and bike park. It’s a simple way to see where to park and how to access the trails. Whether you're planning your first ride or looking for a new spot to explore, this guide has you covered.

This is my last route card for now. I really hope these were helpful for you to plan out new rides this coming season. I'm working on some progression routes for those of you who want to build up to some bigger rides like this one. Those will be coming in March.
